
Proprietor – Walberton, Binsted and Fleurie Nurseries; Chairman, Farplants Group Ltd
Mike joined his parents, who had founded the businesses, in 1989. Whilst developing the business he has also served on various trade bodies, and has complementary land-based business interests as Managing Trustee for Sompting Estate. Mike chairs the Tristram Plants Board meetings for Walberton, Binsted and Fleurie Nurseries and leads on overall strategy and finance. Mike also chairs Farplants Group Limited.

Managing Director – Walberton, Binsted & Fleurie Nurseries
Marc joined Walberton in 1997 as Assistant Manager (Despatch), tasked with making improvements and efficiencies in the department. Soon after, Marc became responsible for growing Hellebores and Citrus, and tasked himself with closely monitoring sales budgets. In time, managing potting operations became another part of Marc’s role, as did further crop growing responsibilities. Marc became General Manager of Walberton Nursery in 2012, and following a merger with Binsted Nursery in 2016, and the acquisition of Fleurie Nursery in 2017, became joint Managing Director of all three Tristram Plants nurseries. Marc is also also a Director of Farplants Group Ltd and Farplants Sales Ltd.

Director of Business Development – Walberton, Binsted & Fleurie Nurseries
Martin joined the businesses in 1997, starting as the Technical Manager at Binsted Nursery. His main responsibilities are business development and strategic planning; he is also a Director of Farplants Group Ltd and Farplants Sales Ltd. Martin is widely known for representing both our businesses and the whole garden plant sector on bodies such as the NFU Board for Horticulture and the Ornamental Horticulture Roundtable Group. Martin is current Chairman of the HTA Ornamentals Management Committee. Alongside his nursery responsibilities; Martin also runs a horticultural training consultancy and lectures at RBG Kew and RHS Wisley.

Office Manager – Walberton
Camilla joined Walberton Nursery in the summer of 2007 as a Nursery Worker. Soon after that Camilla moved into a Supervisory role before becoming Office Manager in 2010. Camilla is now responsible for office admin, and managing human resources and payroll. Camilla also represents the nurseries at Farplants Marketing meetings, is a member of the Farplants Compliance Committee, and has represented the Farplants Group on the OHAS Committee.

Technical Manager – Walberton
Mark joined Walberton Nursery in November 2020 with almost 30 years’ experience in varied sectors of horticulture and fresh produce, from ornamentals through to edibles and cut flowers. Mark is on the BASIS Professional Register and his main areas of responsibility are crop protection, training and site compliance. Mark is also a member of the newly formed HTA Ornamentals Technical Committee.

Production Operations Manager – Walberton
Simon joined Walberton in 2013 as a Trainee Manager, bringing with him 18 years of experience in local horticulture. Having started predominantly with the remit of organising and allocating work on a daily basis for up to 50 staff, Simon, in his capacity of Production Operations Manager is now also responsible for all potting operations, direct management of seven staff, and the growing of several crops.

Assistant Manager Operations – Binsted
Agata joined Binsted Nursery in March 2020, just before the first lockdown, and has been supporting the team during this difficult and challenging time by taking on various tasks within the business. She brought with her 10 years of management experience from a mixture of different backgrounds: warehouse, logistics and quality management. Agata’s main tasks are now to make sure all operations between the three Binsted sites run as smoothly as possible.

Production & Grower Manager – Binsted
John re-joined Binsted Nursery in September 2016, bringing with him a wealth of experience in local horticulture. John’s role is to oversee the production and growing of all crops.

Technical Manager (Trials & NPD) – Walberton & Binsted Nurseries
Gracie joined in April 2017 as Technical Manager (Trials & NPD). Gracie manages Walberton and Binsted’s plant trialling programmes, in a continual drive to bring new products to market. Gracie also offers technical support in the areas of plant health, plant nutrition, substrates and environmental monitoring. Gracie previously trained as a plant scientist, joining Tristram Plants from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), where she had been working on a jointly funded RHS-AHDB fellowship project.

Assistant Operations Manager – Fleurie
Tracey joined Fleurie Nursery as a seasonal worker in March 1999 and was taken on full time in August that year. Since then Tracey has had a variety of roles within Fleurie covering despatch, production and site management. She was promoted to her current role of Assistant Operations Manager in 2011.

Logistics and Training Manager – Fleurie
Moira joined Fleurie Nursery as Operations Manager in 2007, having worked in similar roles in horticulture since 1995. Moira’s job role changed last year and she is now responsible for health and safety, training and maintenance across all sites, and sundry ordering for the Business.

Director – Walberton, Binsted and Fleurie Nurseries
Stephen joined Fleurie Nursery as Technical Manager in 2004 and became a Director of Fleurie Nursery in 2007. He then took over the general management of Fleurie in 2015. He is also a Director of each of the Tristram Plants nurseries, Farplants Group Ltd and Farplants Sales Ltd. Stephen still plays an active role in the technical aspects of the Fleurie business, but also contributes to the Farplants Group through his wealth of knowledge and experience from other areas of the industry, including involvement in AHDB and DEFRA projects.

Technical Production Co-ordinator – Fleurie
Clare joined Fleurie Nursery in January 2017. Clare has been with the Farplants Group since joining Star Plants in 2004 as a seasonal worker. She has progressed through the companies from production and site supervision to Technical Production Co-ordinator. With support and training over the years Clare has obtained an NVQ level 2 in Production Horticulture, and BASIS and FACTS qualifications.

Finance Manager – Fleurie
Sara joined the Fleurie Management Team in December 2007 as Finance Manager, covering all aspects of accounting and payroll for the business. Sara brought with her over 30 years of experience in finance, including life assurance investment funds and pensions.

Assistant Manager Technical – Binsted
Amy joined Binsted Nursery in 2020, bringing with her many years of technical and compliance experience. Amy works with the team of growers to improve plant health and is active in instigating the use of responsible and sustainable growing media. She is responsible for compliance at Binsted Nursery and a member of the Farplants Compliance Committee.

Assistant Technical Manager – Walberton
Agnieszka joined Walberton Nursery in 2015 as a Laboratory Technician. She was involved in producing elite in vitro material in Walberton’s Micropropagation Laboratory. After the closure of the laboratory Agnieszka became an Assistant Technical Manager. Agnieszka is now responsible for production planning, sourcing plants and compliance.

Technical Manager (Propagation & Crop Protection) – Walberton & Binsted Nurseries
Paul joined Tristram Plants in 2018, bringing with him an enormous amount of horticultural knowledge. Paul has been working in Hardy Nursery Stock since finishing college in 1981. His experiences include working for a variety of nurseries across the country, including 21 years at another Farplants Nursery. Paul is a skilled propagator, and now runs both Propagation and Crop Protection departments for Walberton and Binsted.

Technical Manager – Fleurie
David joined Fleurie as Technical Manager in March 2020. He brings a wealth of technical knowledge and growing experience to this role, having previously worked as an agronomist at Fargro for seven years and as an Assistant Technical Manager at Walberton Nursery for a similar period. Previously he worked at RHS Wisley running their propagation department. He is both a FACTS and BASIS examiner and for many years he was also an examiner for the RHS. In 2015 he completed his MHort.

Assistant Manager Despatch and Stock Control – Binsted
Greg joined Binsted Nursery in 2005 as an agency worker. Soon after that he moved into a Despatch Team Leader position. Over the years Greg has held a variety of roles in the business and in 2021 was promoted to Assistant Manager Despatch & Stock Control. He is responsible for ensuring all goods are delivered on time and to the correct quality, and for forecasting sales and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock.

Assistant Stock Control & Sales Support Manager – Fleurie
Louise joined the cultural team at Fleurie in November 2014, having retrained in horticulture after a career in professional services in London, Paris and Brussels. She took on the position of senior cultural at Springfield in February 2017. Louise was promoted to her current role in February 2019, bringing together both her cultural experience and previous systems skills.
