Walberton’s Management Team complete at last!
It’s been more than a year now since Marc Jones took over as General Manager of Walberton Nursery. With no-one to step in and take over his old role of Operations Manager, and with the departure of our Technical Manager also, Marc together with the support of his remaining team of two, Office Manager Camilla Penn and Resources Manager Tim Lawrance-Owen, worked hard through a tough year to keep the business running as efficiently as possible.

Mike Wainwright joined as Technical Production Manager in April and the position of Trainee Manager (Production Operations) was finally filled at the end of September. Simon Green, the newest member of the team arrived with boundless energy and enthusiasm for his new position. Having spent a number of weeks getting his hands dirty and understanding how our operations work, Simon has already taken over the not insignificant task of daily staff allocation over both sites. He will then ultimately take over the running of all production operations, such as potting.
Simon has a wealth of experience in a number of production focussed roles in ornamental horticulture, and of his latest challenge he said, “I am really enjoying my new role at Walberton Nursery. It’s definitely a lot different to my last job and I am learning something new each and every day. The first three months have just flown by and I’m looking forward to the coming year and the continuing development of both myself and my new role. I have been massively impressed by the technical knowledge and attention to detail which is used on a day to day basis throughout the nursery by not just some, but all members of staff. I would also like to say a big thank you to all at Walberton who have helped and are continuing to help my smooth transition into my new role as Trainee Production Operations Manager. Walberton is traditionally a family business and I must say that just in my short time here I already feel like I’m part of that family and I’m very grateful for being given this wonderful opportunity.”
The team are very much looking forward to seeing what 2014 will bring………..
