Planning for a bright future – 3.7ha of redevelopment plans passed for Fleurie Nursery
Fleurie Nursery, one of Tristram Plants nurseries, is due to undergo a significant change over the next few years.
The nursery has been granted planning permission for a complete site redevelopment on the ex-Star Plants site on Lake Lane, Barnham acquired in March 2019. The planned development allows for a total of 3.7ha of protected facilities to be constructed in four phases.
The first phase of this development is the construction of a one hectare protected multispan polytunnel structure manufactured by Vermako due to be completed in the summer of 2021. This will be an automatically controlled structure with roof and side ventilation and autonomous irrigation control. These modern facilities will increase the ability of the business to produce more technically difficult crops and expand the range of products grown within and outside the main season. To support the redevelopment the business has recently had a grant from the Coast to Capital Business Recovery fund approved. This is to purchase a number of capital items to improve labour efficiencies and significantly improve the control of the green house environments on site.
