Rehmannia Walberton’s ‘Magic Dragon’ launched at HTA National Plant Show
Walberton Nursery launched its first new Walberton’s ® product since 2009 at the HTA National Plant Show in Stoneleigh.
Rehmannia Walberton’s ‘Magic Dragon’ is a unique cross that took owner David Tristram years to achieve. He selected the taller Rehmannia elata and crossed it with the shorter Rehmannia glutinosa to create a vigorous hybrid with 6cm wide flowers that last all summer and are a magnet for bumble bees.
The Farplants Group stand at the HTA National Plant Show sparked quite a bit of interest with people taking ‘selfies’ with the Dragon….even our own Technical Manager couldn’t resist. Many respected industry people like Peter Seabrook and Val Bradley visited the Farplants stand and showed great interest in this unique new plant.
The launch had been kept under wraps until the show on 24th June and social media is already alive with positive reactions from the trade. Plans are underway to create a spectacular crop ready for Spring 2015.
